What is the Role:

The Risk Function is an independent, second line of defence function that monitors, controls and supports risk-taking activities across AIB. The purpose of the Risk Function is to provide advice and guidance in relation to risk while providing independent oversight and reporting on AIB’s risk profile.

The Risk Function’s main objective is to ensure AIB has a robust risk management framework and culture in place to ensure risks are taken within the risk appetite set by the Board, in support of AIB’s customer franchise and social responsibility.

Risk Technology & Transformation in AIB 

In AIB the Risk Technology & Transformation team is responsible for AIB’s Risk Technology strategy, supporting the transformation of the AIB Risk team into a technology, data and analytics enabled function.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Financial Risk Enablement, the successful candidate will support the evolution of the Risk function in its use of technology and platforms. The role will support the delivery of our target technology infrastructure allowing us to adapt quickly to changing customer needs, regulatory requirements and market opportunities.

Key accountabilities

We’re looking for a Platforms Manager to:

  • Lead the SAS platforms team in the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and reliable technology solutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging the exploration of new technologies and methodologies that optimise the use of SAS platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with business and analytics teams to ensure platform capabilities align with organisational objectives and analytical needs.
  • Develop and lead the execution of migration plans from legacy SAS environments to SAS Viya, ensuring minimal disruption and strong stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate effectively with Technology Architecture and Data & Analytics Platform Teams to ensure SAS is aligned with the Group Target Architecture and Cloud Strategy.
  • Act as the primary liaison with our technology vendors, ensuring analytics services are consistently available in line with agreed SLAs.
  • Oversee issue management and resolution, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance services in collaboration with vendors.
  • Maintain a strong control environment across all SAS platforms, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing team through effective coaching, performance management, development planning, and, where required, recruitment.
  • Ensure appropriate systems access and business continuity arrangements are in place, in line with the Bank’s policies and risk appetite.
  • Provide audit readiness and assurance, coordinating responses and activities for internal and external audits on behalf of the team.

What you Will Bring ;

  • 5+ years in a similar Risk technology focussed role
  • Excellent technology skills with experience managing SAS platforms
  • Self-starter with ability to work on own initiative and strong attention to detail, completing tasks to a very high degree of accuracy often within tight timelines.
  • An ability to communicate complex issues in a straightforward manner to a variety of stakeholders
  • Experienced leader with a track record of motivating and leading teams through complex change projects
