Florist
Ballyfin Demesne are looking for a talented and experienced florist to join our team. This is an exciting and creative position where you get to work in beautiful surroundings both on the estate and inside our renowned restored mansion.
Working Arranagments
This position is a permenant part-time position working 3 x 8 hour shifts over 7 days (Mon to Sun). You will be required to work 2 Sundays per month. Hours may also increase for annual leave cover and in busy periods depending on hotel operations.
The ideal candidate will be flexible, creative, a team player and have the ability to work independently.
Main Purpose of Job:
This role is responsible for preparing all floral decorations for public areas, restaurants, functions and rooms. It is important to set high standards using the highest quality of material to ensure the flower arrangements have the best possible life span and to ensure the use of appropriate flowers from our gardens.
Main Duties include:
- Coordinate and create beautiful flower arrangements for all public areas, rooms, bedrooms, dining tables and functions for the house
- Ensure appropriate selection of flowers from the gardens with regular liaison with the Estate Manager
- Carefully select and cut flowers and foliage from the gardens
- Ensure each display throughout the house is monitored daily and replace any withering petals or discoloured water
- Ensure all public areas are checked after walking through for fallen petals, to maintain the pristine presentation of the house.
- Ensure flowers and plants throughout house are adequately watered and water in vases is replaced frequently and as required
- Liaise with the Estate Manager as required and report any sightings of pest control or disease as soon as possible
- Ensure effective communications with heads of departments and coworkers to ensure you are informed of daily/weekly requirements and any upcoming functions & events
- Plan and organise work efficiently and ensure effective time management, keeping to within budgeted hours unless approved in advance.
- Work and communicate effectively with other team members and GM to ensure the florist department is adequately staffed and equipped to meet operational requirements and work space is kept neat and tidy.
- Accountable for ensuring there is a consistent high quality and standard of all floral displays
- Ensure actions are taken to ensure all flower arrangements have the best possible life span.
- To ensure there is adequate rose petals available for the housekeeping team as required
- Proactively communicate with the Estate Manager and General Manager regarding any concerns
