Job Purpose

Dawn Farms is currently seeking a Food Chemistry Technician Graduate to join our Laboratory Department to be based in our state-of-the-art production facilities in Naas, Co. Kildare. Our Food Chemistry Technician Graduate will be responsible for conducting chemistry tests, including the analysis of protein, fat, moisture, ash, salt, free fatty acids (FFA), and pH, to ensure the highest quality of work in the chemistry laboratory. This includes strictly adhering to the quality system in place at all times, maintaining accuracy and consistency in testing procedures, and upholding laboratory standards to support overall product quality and compliance. This is an opportunity for growth with exposure to state-of-the-art food research and manufacturing environment and diverse protein product development and applications.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, thrive in a team-oriented laboratory environment, and demonstrate a strong interest in science and analytical testing. Experience in a laboratory within the food industry is a definite advantage, along with a solid understanding of food chemistry and biochemistry. The candidate must be capable of working effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment. Full training will be provided in all analytical methods.

Positions: Full-Time, Fixed Term 2 years.

Location: Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland.

Salary: DOE

Working Hours: 39 hours per week, Mon. - Fri. (some flexibility required)

Role Responsibilities & Duties

  • Carrying out all relevant testing to include Protein, fat, moisture, salt, ash, FFA, pH, analysis.
  • Ensuring that all testing is carried out in accordance with the laboratory procedures as set out by the lab.
  • Performing internal QC Checks.
  • Performing external QC testing Round Robin testing /proficiency testing.
  • Providing results that are accurate and reproducible on appropriate documentation .
  • Maintaining a database of chemistry results on Navision accessible by all other Departments.
  • Performing tasks as set out by the Senior Technician.
  • Liaising with clients from all onsite factories in connection with food chemistry issues.
  • Other activities as specified by the Senior Technician and/or Lab Manager.
