Part Time – Fixed Term positions
Horizons is seeking to recruit 2 x part time (fixed term) highly motivated and enthusiastic Garden Centre Retail Assistant. As a Garden Centre Retail Assistant, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and advice to our customers, utilising your expertise and experience to ensure they receive the best possible care and advice. You will work be surrounded by a vast array of plant species, and will have opportunities to develop your horticultural knowledge and skills. This is a 1 Year Fixed Term (3 Days per week) position where we are looking for a committed and dedicated individual to join our team.
Requirements of the post:
- Provide advice to customers in relation to plants and garden products
- Assisting with stock management, including ordering, receiving, and organising stock
- Maintaining a high standard of display and merchandising throughout the garden centre
- Operating the till and handling cash and card transactions accurately
- Plant health and care, including watering, pruning, pest control, and disease prevention
- To be aware of the needs of the people supported by Horizons
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations and guidelines
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Garden Centre Manager
Essential Criteria:
- Knowledge of plants and gardening products
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively
- A friendly, positive, and enthusiastic demeanour
- Able to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.
- Comfortable lifting objects and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and guidelines
Desirable Criteria:
- A qualification in Horticulture would be a an advatage
