Cork University Hospital (CUH) is a model 4 tertiary referral centre and the only Level 1 trauma centre in the Republic of Ireland. It is a designated Major Trauma Centre for adult services and a Trauma Unit for paediatric services, and also plays a key role in the response to major emergencies that entail a medical response. CUH has a broad range of medical and surgical specialties on the campus. As the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area and the supra regional area of Limerick, Kerry, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny, CUH serves a total population of over 1.2 million. It is Ireland’s largest Paediatric unit currently tri-located with maternity and adult services. CUH currently employs more than 3,500 WTE of multiple professions and is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science at University College Cork.
