General Operative - Despatch Area

Based at our Packing Centre site in Smithborough, Monaghan, this individual will work as part of our existing Maintenance team, ensuring the smooth running of our equipment on site through routine maintenance & repair, as required.

Greenfield Foods produces packs and distributes over 7 million eggs per week for the Irish Market place, produced on over 70 farms nationwide.

Job Description

Job Title Despatch Operative

Contract type Full Time Permanent (on passing 6 months’ probation period)

Reporting to Despatch Manager

Location Greenfield Foods, Mullandava, Smithboro, Co. Monagahan H18YY33

Pay Terms Wages are paid on a weekly basis.

Duties Include

• Ensure pallets are built correctly.
• Ensure all boxes are taped correctly.
• Scan out all boxes in line with order.
• Check bar codes and labels for correct product and that all barcodes are facing out on the pallet.
• Ensure all boxes are up on a pallet (not on the floor).
• Ensure individual loads are built and checked off correctly.
• Ensure all boxes are scanned to orders.
• Ensure dockets are filled out correctly and accompany all loads incl. Plain packs and trays when necessary.
• Ensure trailers are clean and tidy before loading.
• Ensure loads are put on correct Lorries.
• Ensure all exits are kept clear (never blocked).
• Move returns to Returns area immediately and to compact plastic/card that accompanies returns and remove full pallets to pallet area.
• Remove broken pallets and all product breakages to be cleaned immediately.
• Keep areas clean and tidy.
• Ensure you have sufficient stock of labels/pallets/rolls/corners/paper.
• Scanners and Pallet trucks to be charged every evening and chargers should be off when not charging.
• Ensure that all goods are transported to their destination efficiently, safely and accurately.
• Ensure that all stock handled is stored correctly, safely and accurately within the warehouse facility.
• Load and unload lorries in a safe and efficient manner
• Perform general warehouse duties in order to maintain a smooth operation
• Inspect and maintain equipment, reporting any faults or wear and tear
• General housekeeping duties of stores facilities and company vehicles to ensure that all duties are carried out in an efficient and safe manner. (Storage of materials, manual handling, consideration of others).
• Ensure that the staff comply with the Greenfield Foods Health & Safety policy.

Desirable Skills & Experience·

• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take direction
• Ability to work well in a team
• Ability to challenge others in a professional and constructive manner
• Knowledge and experience in a food manufacturing environment an advantage, but not essential
• Enjoy a fast paced, demanding production area.
• Have a ‘can do’ attitude.

Working hours

• The Factories core hours are 8am to 4:15 pm Monday to Friday, however,you are expected to be co-operative in working outside these hours if necessary.
• Despatch staff are required to work Sundays from 8am-11am in rotation with the other despatch staff (generally one Sunday each month)
• Public Holidays – Despatch staff are required to work Public Holidays in rotation with the other despatch staff
