General Operative / Egg Packer

Based at our Packing Centre site in Smithboro, Monaghan, this individual will work as part of our existing grading team, ensuring the smooth running of our equipment on-site through routine maintenance & repair, as required.

Job Description

Job Title General Operative – Egg Packer

Contract type Full Time Permanent (on passing 6 months’ probation period)

Reporting to Production Manager

Location Greenfield Foods, Mullandava, Smithboro, Co. Monagahan H18YY33

Pay Terms Wages are paid on a weekly basis

Duties Include

  • Ensure packs are boxed quickly and correctly. E.g. bar code and box are correct for product.
  • Switch off machine when printer lights flash and inform Supervisor/Manager.
  • Check dates on eggs and packs to make sure they correspond.
  • Place label on pallets of shrink/wrap.
  • Keep overflow lane cleared.
  • To help out at lanes that are under pressure
  • Put full pallets of shrink-wrap out in despatch as soon as possible.
  • To ensure that breakages are cleaned.
  • To keep pans and areas at back of grader clean.
  • Keep rubbish and cardboard under control.
  • Put a dated Seconds label onto seconds pallet and remove out to correct area (if not busy).

Desirable Skills & Experience·

  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take direction
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to challenge others in a professional and constructive manner
  • Knowledge and experience in a food manufacturing environment an advantage, but not essential
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude.

Working hours

  • GeneralOperative employees core hours are 8am to 4:15 pm Monday to Friday, however, you are expected to be co-operative in working outside these hours if necessary.
  • General Operative employees are required to work Sundays from 8am-11am in rotation with the other grader staff (generally one Sunday each month)
  • Public Holidays – General Operative employees are required to work Public Holidays in rotation with the other Grader staff
