Job Summary

The Child and Family Agency was established on 1st January 2014 and is responsible for a range of statutory functions including provision of child protection, alternative care, specified regulatory services and a range of family support services. The Agency has commenced a major improvement programme with significant focus on Practice, Culture and Structure.

The Agency currently has responsibility for a budget in excess of €1.02billion and delivers its services through circa 5,000 people in 350 locations across the Country.

The Child and Family Agency has responsibility for the following range of services:

• Child Protection and Welfare

• Family Support

• Alternative Care

• Adoption

• Tusla Education Support Services (TESS)

• Children’s Service Regulation

• Counselling and Therapeutic Supports

Job Objectives

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To engage proactively in work across the designated region(s) to raise awareness of the need for foster carers.

• To work as part of the National Fostering Recruitment Team, liaising closely with regional and local foster work departments.

• To coordinate and plan recruitment initiatives in consultation with Tusla fostering and local fostering teams according to their identified needs. To work with the National Lead for Foster Care, National Fostering Recruitment Manager and other relevant national roles and other regions to ensure consistency and sharing.

• To initiate contact with groups Tusla are targeting for carer recruitment (schools, sports clubs etc.) and assist with organising events at which the public can attend to discuss fostering.

• Co-ordinate and organise campaign literature and other marketing materials as required.

• Initiate and co-ordinate a schedule of varied campaigns/events in collaboration with recruitment colleagues and local fostering teams. Undertake organisational task such as venue booking; registration, setting up of Eventbrite events etc.

• Work closely with carers and staff to assist them in having the necessary materials to support fostering recruitment campaigns.

• Maintain an information system for tracking of recruitment activity and effectiveness to promote learning and support service improvement.

• Conduct campaign evaluations.

• Develop and implement ideas for new recruitment initiatives.

• Update managers on progress

• This post will require regular travel across the region(s) and a flexibility in terms of working hours according to campaign needs including evening and weekend information events periodically.

Health & Safety

• Comply with and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice and adhere to relevant legislation, regulations and standards.

• Have a working knowledge of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards as they apply to the service for example National Standards for Child Protection and Care and comply with associated Tusla – Child and Family Agency protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards as appropriate to the role.

• To support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service.

Skills Requirement

Applicants must by the closing date of application have the following:

• Have at least 2 years’ administrative experience relevant to the requirements of the role.

• Possess sufficient administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the grade/post.

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Character
