Calling all 2024 Nursing Graduates.

Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services would love you to join the team as a newly Graduated Nurse.

Staff Nurses (awaiting registration) or Graduate Nurse

  • 1.0WTE (37.5 hours)
  • Indefinite duration contracts
  • H.S.E. funded and Board of Director’s funded contracts
  • Based in Harold’s Cross, Blackrock and Wicklow

What does our New Graduate mentorship programme mean for you?

Once you are successful in your interview you will be given an indefinite duration (permanent) contract. You will work as a pre-registered nurse until you receive your nursing registration from NMBI. You will then work as a new graduate Staff Nurse.

You will be automatically enrolled in our mentorship programme which is aimed at nurses who are newly qualified and wish to gain experience in a specialist hospital where exceptional patient care and patient outcomes are our priority.

Members of our Nursing team including our Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Facilitator, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Nurse Managers offer great support as they mentor the new graduates to gain competency in many clinical skills.

Nurses who successfully complete this programme, play an integral role in our Nursing Team as they continue to build on their nursing knowledge, expertise and career.

You will have significant opportunities to progress in your career.

Throughout the programme you will be encouraged to keep learning and be supported every step of the way.

Programme Benefits:

  • Indefinite duration (permanent) contract
  • After 16 weeks of obtaining your NMBI pin, you will be eligible to move to point 3 of the Staff Nurse salary scale
  • After 12 months you are eligible to take up an Enhanced Nurse contract
  • Opportunity to rotate specialities

Department specialties in OLH&CS:

  • Palliative Care (Harold’s Cross, Blackrock and Wicklow)
  • Rheumatology (Harold’s Cross)
  • Older Persons Service [Anna Gaynor House Residential Unit and Community Rehabilitation Unit] (Harold’s Cross)

Education programme includes:

  • Orientation programme specifically designed to meet the needs of a New Graduate Nurse
  • Meeting the nursing team and receiving support from top level

Speciality education pathways:

  • We have our own Nurse Education Centre which delivers a number of national programmes open to all nurses within the relevant clinical area.
  • You will have the opportunity and support to undertake a CPD or post graduate programme in any of our three specialties. There will be promotional post opportunities in the organisation in the inpatient units and our community teams.

Essential Requirements:

  • BSc in Nursing
  • Eligibility for full registration in the General Division of the Register of Nurses as maintained by NMBI
  • Completed an internship in an Acute Level 4 Hospital
