Role Introduction:

Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €4BN in annual revenue, operating 430 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 17,000 people.

Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase and to support this ambitious growth, we are seeking to onboard a Group HR Manager to support the Group HR team in providing a best in class HR service for our Group employees, delivering on all aspects of the employee lifecycle and enhancing the employee experience across all corporate functions.

The successful candidate will provide business partnering support for all Group and EV activities and will support on limited projects as required. This permanent role will form part of a dynamic HR team and will report to the Group Head of People. The successful candidate will be a highly driven, adaptable and confident people person who can thrive in a rapidly changing organisation and will adopt a hands-on approach to their role. We are seeking a high calibre and talented HR professional who has a passion for HR as a career, and who also has longer term potential for broader responsibilities and contribution to the company over time.

Key Responsibilities:

As Applegreen evolves, the responsibilities this role will too. The core responsibilities are outlined in more detail below:

Recruitment

· Complete all end to end Group and EV recruitment requirements, advising and supporting hiring managers on group recruiting needs. This includes identifying the best approach for each process (e.g. direct, agency or both) and executing against that approach.

· Managing relationships with agencies ensuring our PSL is up to date, delivers to the needs of the business and provides the maximum value.

· Produce recruiting metrics focused on time to hire, quality of hire, cost to hire, etc.

· Enhance interview training and support materials to ensure they are aligned with best practice.

· Co-interview on roles as required and ensure quality and objective recruiting decisions.

· Manage recruiting budget for head office contributing to the overall budgeting process for HR

Employee Lifecycle Business Partnering

· Support and manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle for group employees, including leavers, joiners, contracts management, forms, data and any disciplinary or other employee issues that may arise as appropriate.

· Provide operational and best practice HR advice on a range of people related queries, ensuring a positive employee relations culture is championed and maintained.

· Conduct head office exit interviews for group leavers and develop action plans.

· Performance management support for group employees.

· Building strong brand of Group HR and standards of excellence in HR business partnering and support.

· Provide support to and collaborate with HR and business stakeholders across the UK and US, ensuring a consistent and effective employee experience

Support on Group HR Projects

· Deliver key HR projects, as key SME and contributor as requested, that support execution of the overall HR and business strategy.

· Support on Wellbeing and Inclusion & Diversity events from both head office and broader perspective as required.

· Ad hoc support for projects that support the delivery of key priorities

The Candidate should have the following:

Qualifications, experience & skills

· Honours degree in Human Resources or related discipline e.g. Employment Law, Business, Organisational Development etc. Post graduate qualifications also an advantage.

· 5-7 years’ experience working in HR, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a HR management level role.

· CIPD qualification and/or CIPD membership strongly preferred.

· Experience in employment law desirable.

· Broad HR experience across all areas of responsibility outlined above.

· Demonstrable skills and proven track record in shaping and delivering HR projects.

· Detailed knowledge of HR systems and HR KPIs preferred.

· High proficiency in all Microsoft Office software also essential (Excel, PPT).

· Willing to travel ad hoc if required in addition to supporting out of hours content development as required.
