Role Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Careers join our team here at IBAT College Dublin.
This role is important for IBAT College and will play a vital role in supporting the operations of the College. To succeed the post holder will provide professional career guidance, coaching and resources to enable students and alumni explore their career paths, develop employability skills and achieve their career goals. The postholder will work closely with students to identify their strengths, interests & values, and provide support in job search strategies, CV writing, interview preparation and networking. The Career Advisor will collaborate with College staff and prospective employers to promote career-related programs and connect students with employment opportunities including internship, work experience and placements.
Key Activities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the College’s careers and employability service, empowering students to succeed in their journey through the College by supporting post-education employment opportunities
- Work with other colleagues and departments as required
- Provide 1:1 career advising to students and alumni on areas such as, but not limited to, job searching, CV and cover letter writing, interview preparation and networking skills
- Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars and presentations on various career-related topics
- Assist students in creating and implementing career development plans that align with academic and professional goals
- Provide guidance through job search process, using job boards, platforms and social media including LinkedIn
- Collaborate with prospective employers and faculty to identify and promote internship, placement and employment opportunities
- Work with alumni to provide career services and promote engagement opportunities, including mentorship and job-shadowing programs
- Administer and interpret career assessments to help students understand their interests, values and skills in relation to career options
- Track student interactions, job placements, and other key performance indicators to report on career services outcome and provide reporting to senior management as needed.
- Assist in planning and coordinating (with sales and marketing) career fairs, employer networking events and on-campus recruitment activities
- Stay informed on current job and market trends, in particular relevant industry-specific career paths to provide relevant and up-to-date guidance
- Other duties as required by the College to meet changing circumstances
Skills, qualification and key attributes:
- Degree level qualification in related field (e.g. Guidance Counselling, HR, Psychology, Education)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar role where you have provided career guidance
- Experience working in a Higher Education setting is desirable
- Knowledge of career development theories, job search strategies, and employability skills.
- Experience with career assessment tools
- Ability to organise and facilitate workshops, presentations, and events.
- Proficiency in using career services management systems and job boards
