What is the Role:

The Sector Strategy & Specialists team is a specialist team providing deep level sectoral knowledge and expertise to enhance business performance.

An opportunity now exists for the role of Head of Manufacturing, Food & Fishing which is a key leadership role in the development of AIB’s presence in these important sectors within the Irish economy. This enterprise wide role involves a high level of internal and external collaboration to progress AIB’s market position and strategy in both the Manufacturing, Food & Fishing sectors. 

The Head of Manufacturing, Food & Fishing will be responsible for guiding AIB strategic direction across these sectors, supporting the business objectives and building AIB’s reputation & credibility as a leading bank in these sectors.

Key accountabilities;

  • Develop and implement a medium-term strategy in both the Food and Non-Food manufacturing sector and the Fishing sector and support key business objectives across the relevant Business and SME channels.
  • Represent AIB externally in the manufacturing and fishing sectors and become a differentiator within the sectors by engaging and building relationships with external stakeholders and key business influencers i.e. advisory firms, industry representatives and groups.
  • Drive new income generation and identify new business opportunities within agreed risk appetite and engage across the bank to drive cross sales and deepen relationships.
  • Engage in ongoing research into the market trends and the outlook for the sectors to ensure AIB has the most up to date and accurate information to support decision making relating to the sectors.
  • Build internal stakeholders sectoral knowledge to optimise customer engagement and credit underwriting standards, providing guidance and training where required to frontline teams.
  • Support relationship managers in their engagements with customers on more complex or larger transactions and targeting non-customers.
  • Produce sector reports and external publications and identify industry KPI’s and business growth opportunities.
  • Create and support a culture of continuous learning within the Sector team across technical and personal development areas of self and colleagues.

What you Will Bring;

  • Minimum 6 years experience within either business or corporate banking
  • Alternatively, role may also suit candidate with minimum 6 years experience in a finance, strategy or operations management role within a manufacturing, food or fishing enterprise.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to develop relationships at all levels both within the organisation along with external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a strategic mind-set that can identify future possibilities and translating them into deliverable initiatives.
  • High level of interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to operate at a senior level in the organisation
  • Has significant credit experience and is comfortable with high value or complex transactions and is skilled at analysing data.
  • QFA qualified or willing to complete exams
  • Relevant 3rd level or accountancy qualification
