Location/Office Policy: AIB Central Park / Hybrid basis
The Health and Safety team provides advice, assistance and support on all aspects of health and safety to AIB management and staff and in doing so maintains AIB in good standing in relation to Health & Safety legislative obligations and best practice.

What is the Role:
Working as part of a five-person team the Health and Safety Advisor will report to the Health and Safety manager. The Health and Safety Advisor will contribute to implementing and monitoring the safety policies and arrangement within their regional area. This will involve supporting and collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders, delivering training, auditing, monitoring and measuring health and safety performance, assisting with health and safety reports, sharing best practice and promoting a positive health and safety culture.
The role is primarily located in AIB Central Park but in the course of the role, will be required to operate across AIB workplaces within the assigned region.
Key accountabilities:
The accountabilities of this role include, but are not restricted to the following:
- Work with the H&S team to develop, implement and maintain Health and Safety (H&S) practices, programmes and initiatives, which will contribute to driving a positive H&S culture.
- Co-ordinate the identification of workplace hazards and assessment of risks, advise management on appropriate control measures to eliminate, minimise or control these hazards.
- Actively participates in designing and delivering AIB H&S training programme in conjunction with the AIB H&S team and other relevant departments.
- Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and response procedures.
- Liaise closely with those responsible for Emergency Procedures to ensure the prevention of fire and the safe evacuation of employees in emergency situations.
- Advise on legislative requirements, standards and codes of practice.
- Facilitate the development, communication and implementation of Health and Safety Plans, Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
- Assist in the preparation, review and communication of the Safety Statement and Safety Management System.
- Carry out safety inspections, and audits, maintain records, report on findings and monitor compliance with corrective and preventative actions
- Manage the Safely Working from Home Risk Assessment Programme.
- Maintain/develop appropriate records, reports and documentation as required.
- Investigate incidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses as appropriate and make recommendations for corrective action.
- Assist in the preparation of ongoing analysis and regular reports of unsafe incidents and accidents.
- Liaise with the Health and Safety Authority and any other relevant external agencies and organisations as required.
- Advise and report to management on all matters relating to employee health and safety.
What you Will Bring:
- Relevant Third Level qualification in Health and Safety (Higher-Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work at a minimum).
- 1-2 years relevant experience of working within a similar health and safety role.
- Must be familiar with current health and safety legislation and demonstrate the ability to interpret legislation in the context of the financial services sector.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional approach, coupled with strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation and training skills.
- Flexible and self-motivated.
- Qualified Manual Handling and DSE Assessor Trainer.
- Full driving licence.
