Health, Safety And Environmental Officer

The role:
Support the HSE Manager in delivering the HSE Policy requirements, goals and objectives.
Support the HSE Manager to develop, implement, maintain and communicate all HSE documentation requirements, ensuring conformance to the requirements of ISO45001 & ISO14001.
Lead and facilitate the risk assessment program, ensuring improvement actions are logged on the improvement database.
Support and participate, as necessary, in monitoring activities intended to reduce the potential for injury or ill health, ensuring improvement actions are logged on the improvement database.
Liaise with department managers to ensure the hazard identification and risk assessment process and monitoring activities are effective.
Assist the HSE Manager in ensuring compliance with stakeholder requirements and obligations, i.e. HS&E regulatory requirements, Permits & Consents, Corporate goals requirements, etc.
Create and deliver HSE awareness training and induction programs as requested.
Assist with the drugs and alcohol testing process, liaising with HR and department managers. Take the lead on out of hours testing as required
Support the HSE Manager in executing appropriate and effective arrangements for operational control of PTW, LOTO, control of contractors, CDM projects, COSHH, HAV’s, etc.
Support the incident investigation program to ensure that occupational accidents are properly investigated to identify cause and recommend appropriate corrective and / or preventative actions to prevent recurrence. Act as H&S lead on individual incident investigations as required
Develop and maintain records and document control processes in conformance with ISO45001 & ISO14001.
Complete statutory notifications, e.g. RIDDOR.
Ensure provision of welfare arrangements and equipment, i.e. lockers, PPE.
Arranging specific external HSE related training, e.g. first aid, safety rep, fire marshal.
Creating and delivering safety communications, including updating green boards, etc.
Assist with preparation for and execution of HSE certification audits.
Practice good housekeeping and safety procedures.
Participate with team working, information sharing, 5S and Continuous Improvement Programmes.
Act as H&S lead on cross departmental projects/forums
Ensure compliance with all Company policies and systems, including the quality, health, safety and environmental policies and management systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Criteria:
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
>1 year previous experience as a HSE Officer.
Confidentiality and discretion.
IT literate, proficient in MS Office.
Analytical, problem solving and reporting skills.
Attention to detail, accuracy.
Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
Planning, organising and time management abilities.
Determined, results focused, with ability to work on own initiative.
Desirable Criteria:
NEBOSH General Certificate, 3rd level safety qualification or working towards, e.g. NEBOSH Diploma or a degree. - Recognised environmental qualification.
3 + year experience as HSE Officer.
Experience in designing and delivering HSE training programs.
Previous experience of incident investigation and risk assessment processes
Knowledge of ISO45011 and / or ISO 14001 management systems.
