The Central Bank of Ireland serves the public interest by safeguarding monetary and financial stability and by working to ensure that the financial system operates in the best interests of consumers and the wider economy.We currently have a vacancy for a HR Advisory Specialist on a specified purpose contract for an estimated 24 Months in the People & Workplace Directorate.This role is aligned with the Bank Professional 3 grade and the BP3 salary scale. New entrants will commence on Point 1 of the relevant salary scale; in this case the starting salary will be €64,844. Please click here for further information on our salary scales.You will be responsible for coaching line managers on employee relations matters and for the case management of individual cases, ranging from, probation, performance, absenteeism and grievance & disciplinary issues through internal mechanisms and potentially to external third-party arbitration.Intrinsic to the role will be minimising risk to the Bank on both ER and IR matters through developing and implementing appropriate policies that support a fulfilling place to work under direction from Head of Function - Employee Relations, lead / assist on Staff Representative engagement including attendance at third party hearings.Responsibilities:
- Support line management by advising and coaching on people issues, in a confidential and sensitive manner in order to help managers deal appropriately, from a legislative and employee relations perspective, taking the more complex people matters, providing guidance to colleagues.
- Manage and own a complex case load from commencement to case completion and deliver a consistent, knowledgeable and professional service in areas including disciplinary, grievance, absenteeism, probation, performance, dignity at work etc. ensuring all such matters are dealt with in line with policy, best practice and legislative requirements in order to mitigate risk for the bank.
- Support the performance management process by advising and providing guidance on appeals and other associated issues in order to support the integrity and effectiveness of the process.
- Develop and deliver training for Line managers on employee related matters equipping them to manage their people issues in a consistent and solution-focused manner.
- Advise on and educate HR colleagues and management in effectively implementing Disciplinary, Grievance and Dignity at Work processes and procedures, giving advice on early intervention strategies so as to minimise any exposure to the Bank and develop capability and confidence in addressing issues.
- Collaborate with employee relations to regularly review HR policies to ensure they are fit for purpose, consistent with legislative changes and in line with best practice.
- Develop and manage stakeholder relationship with appropriate staff representatives.
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Studies or a related discipline.
- Membership of the CIPD desirable.
- At Least 5 years’ experience managing disciplinary, grievance and performance management cases from initiation to conclusion.
- Demonstrable experience of working with and influencing Senior Management in large and complex organisations.
- Previous experience of working in industries which have undergone rapid change.
- Excellent understanding of current Irish Employment legislation.
- Expertise of HR related policies & procedures and experience of practical application and interpretation of same.
- Ability to assess potential problems and make sound judgement around issues that may have an adverse effect on the business from a HR and employee engagement perspective.
- Strong skills in stakeholder management, proven ability in building and managing relationships.
- Strong business acumen, commercial awareness and highly motivated; resilient, with an ability to operate in a pressurised environment.
- A strong communicator and influencer with sophisticated client groups and an ability to coach and advise managers.
