Role Purpose

The role of the HV Site Supervisor is to support the Site Manager in the organisation and co-ordination of site-based activities, with particular responsibility for high voltage electrical works.You will lead and co-ordinate teams of HV electrical trade professionals on site, ensuring that all HV installation, testing, and commissioning activities are carried out safely and to the highest standards.The Supervisor will be responsible for the tracking and recording of daily site activities and progress. They will lead their teams to deliver on quality, programme and budget, while upholding strict HV safety standards and developing team capacity.

HV Site Supervisor Responsibilities(in addition to core supervisor duties outlined above, this role specifically requires):

  • Provide leadership in the safe execution of HV works, including switching, testing, isolations, and energisation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules for HV systems, permits-to-work, and control of HV apparatus.
  • Supervise installation of HV switchgear, transformers, cabling, protection and control systems.
  • Liaise closely with commissioning teams, clients, and network operators on HV energisation activities.
  • Oversee specialist HV subcontractors and ensure correct integration with other site works.
  • Enforce HV safety protocols, exclusion zones, and control measures to achieve “Zero Incidents”.
  • Maintain detailed records of all HV activities, permits, isolations, and switching operations.

Necessary Requirements of the HV Site Supervisor

  • Senior Trades qualification or equivalent, coupled with 5+ years’ site experience in High Voltage systems.
  • Proven hands-on experience with HV equipment (switchgear, transformers, protection & control).
  • Ability to interpret HV schematics, protection schemes and electrical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of HV testing and commissioning processes.
  • Demonstrated record of success as a trade leader in HV environments.
  • Familiarity with HV safety rules, permits, and isolation procedures.
  • Strong client focus with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised, decisive and results-oriented, with the resilience to work under pressure.
