Salary: The 7-point salary scale for the post as of 01/08/2025:
€51,718, €53,265, €54,843, €56,456, €58,078, €59,969, €61,866 LSIs
New appointees to any grade start at the minimum point of the scale. Incremental credit will be applied for recognised relevant service in Ireland (Department of Health Circular 2/2011). Incremental credit is normally granted on appointment, in respect of previous experience in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service and other Public Service Bodies and Statutory Agencies.
The main function of this position is to support the Horizons hardware and software products across a large number of sites in Cork city and county. The position is based in Cork city with occasional travel to regional service locations when required. The post holder will report to the IT Manager.
As a proactive member of the IT Department, you will be expected to:
- Provide technical support for the ICT infrastructure environment including networks, servers, desktops and laptops.
- Handle and manage support tickets on the ICT service desk.
- Escalate complex or unresolved incidents within the team or with external contractors\service providers.
- Assist with first-level support of the organisation’s WAN and LAN infrastructure.
- Assist in maintaining the organisation’s Active Directory domain and VMware environment.
- Assist in managing daily backup operations.
- Provide support for Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and remote working technologies.
- Support and manage the organisation’s telephony infrastructure which includes both mobile and fixed-line.
- Assist in Security/Cyber operations to resolve any incidents or alerts.
- Assist in maintaining and updating technical documentation and procedures for all technical aspects of the ICT infrastructure.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Having a Full Clean Drivers License is essential.
- A good understanding of LAN & WAN technologies.
- A good knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Windows 11, Windows Server 2022, Office 2019 and Microsoft 365.
- A working knowledge of VMware virtualization.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work with teams across multiple disciplines.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
