POST OF TEMPORARY FULL-TIME INSTRUCTOR/SUPERVISOR

The Role:

The successful candidates will be involved in the development of a day service provision in Clarinbridge. The successful candidate will also be involved in the implementation of an educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal development programme for adults with an intellectual disability. In line with new directions and extended opening hours the successful candidates will also be responsible for providing family support, coordinating social groups and evening activities and providing one to one supports in the community as required.

The successful candidates will also have responsibility in a key worker role for the people supported by the services to form links and interests and partnerships with other community groups.

For this role the individual will work with adults with Autism with some complex needs. Therefore, the instructor will also be responsible to support individuals with all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes supporting individuals with their meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual.

An essential interest and the ability to facilitate and support adults in a creative arts programme which encourages self-expression, exploration of various art forms and active participation in community arts projects is essential. Therefore, experience and interest in Arts and bring out the spirit of people through the Arts and involving the community is strong focus of these roles.

Qualifications/Experience:

Candidates require a level 7 qualification relevant to the health sector.

Candidates must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience working in ID Services. It is an advantage to have had experience working in day services, designing and implementing programmes to enable them to carry out successfully the duties of the post together with an appreciation of the needs of persons with an intellectual disability. Experience in establishing links with the community and micro enterprises is also an advantage.

Experience in either arts and artistic expression, sports, drama, music involvement or having links and experience with community groups and participation is essential.

A qualification in an arts-related field is desirable.

The candidate should have a specific interest or experience in the area of person centred supports. It is essential that candidates have knowledge and understanding about New Directions and experience of working with people with Autism is also desirable.

A full clean manual Irish Driver’s Licence is essential.

Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post.

Working Hours:

78 hours a fortnight based on a 5-day week duty roster. The normal working hours will be Monday – Friday but may involve weekend work if required to meet the needs of the people we support or Personal Outcomes. Contracted hours of work are liable to change from 8am to 8pm over 7 days to meet the requirements of the programme. The Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

Annual Leave:

22 days per annum.

Remuneration:

Department of Health Consolidated Salary scale August 1st 2025 €35,432x 12 increments - €51,373 per annum.

Tenure:

The post temporary, full-time and pensionable linked on a specific purpose basis to a permanent employee’s redeployment within the Services.

Probation:

A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The

Employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
