Integrated Healthcare Area Lead, Acute Services, University Hospital

The IHA Lead Acute Services is required to:

  • Be directly accountable to the IHA Manager for the operational, financial, quality and governance performance of UHK.
  • Ensure that the needs of patients, service users, families and carers are central to service design and delivery, aligned with IHA integrated care priorities.
  • Foster an organisational culture grounded in compassion, inclusivity, safety and continuous improvement, consistent with IHA values and behaviours.
  • Participate as a member of the IHA senior management team, contributing to policy development, planning, performance review and operational oversight across the IHA.
  • Establish effective local decision-making and delegation processes, aligned with IHA governance frameworks, to ensure delivery of agreed organisational targets.
  • Represent the Hospital at IHA, regional and external fora as delegated by the IHA Manager, ensuring consistent system-wide messaging and stakeholder engagement.
  • Engage proactively with the implementation of the Sláintecare Implementation Strategy, supporting integrated models of care and organisational reform across the IHA.
  • Maintain a strong patient safety and quality focus to inform service redesign and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of service demand trends, population health needs and forecasting data to inform planning within the IHA context.
  • Exercise strategic leadership and resource stewardship for the Hospital within the overall governance and performance framework of the IHA.
