Integration & Community Events Officer (Two Part-time, Fixed-Term Contracts)

The Positions:

The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in facilitating the delivery of the Meath Community Volunteers Programme. Primary responsibilities include organising volunteers to participate in various local community events across the County. Additionally, the successful candidates will collaborate with new arrivals and International Protection Applicants (IPAs) to foster their engagement in volunteering activities within their local communities. These roles demands strong relationship-building skills to cultivate partnerships across different levels and identify opportunities for future collaborations.

Key Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Meath Volunteer Centre Manager and Chief Executive Officer thereafter, the Integration & Community Events Officers will be directly responsible for the following duties:

  • Organising information sessions and workshops to educate migrants and IPAs on the benefits of volunteering and on how to get involved in their community.
  • Collaborating with Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs) to create volunteer opportunities, specifically tailored to the needs of individuals residing in accommodation centres.
  • Providing ongoing support and guidance to migrants and IPAs who would like to volunteer, including navigating the volunteer application process and connecting with appropriate VIOs.
  • Providing ongoing support and mentorship to new volunteers to ensure they feel valued and empowered in their roles.
  • Developing a network of support among volunteers, including social events and activities to foster a sense of belonging and community.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of migrant and IPA volunteers in various projects and initiatives, and providing feedback and recognition for their contributions.
  • Seeking feedback from migrants and IPA volunteers to improve the volunteer experience and make adjustments to better support their engagement and retention.
  • Coordinating the Centre's Community Volunteers Programme, including recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers.
  • Organising and administering the participation of volunteers in local community events.
  • Working closely with new arrivals and IPAs to facilitate their integration into volunteering through Community Volunteer Events.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with community stakeholders, organisations, and agencies to identify and leverage collaborative opportunities for the Community Volunteers Programme.
  • Providing support and guidance to volunteers, new arrivals, and IPAs to ensure their successful engagement in the Community Volunteers Programme.
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of internal strategies to enhance volunteer participation and community engagement.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the Community Volunteers Programme; providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Updating and managing the Community Volunteers CRM system.
  • Managing social media posts for each Community Volunteers event and documenting promotional activities.
  • Collaborating with the wider Volunteer Centre team to promote the values and mission of the organisation through community engagement initiatives.

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proven experience in volunteer management, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including new communities and IPAs.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with experience of working in a fast-paced environment and to monthly deadlines.
  • High levels of accuracy and veracity with evidence of being precise, accurate and detail oriented.
  • IT literate in CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated, capable of independently organising and delivering on comprehensive work plans and objectives.
  • Solution-oriented, results-driven, and dynamic in approaching the role.

Desirable Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • Relevant qualification in Social Work, Community Development, Non-profit Management or other related field.
  • Experience in event management and delivery.
  • Strong commitment to the values of community participation, social inclusion, and diversity.
  • Additional EU languages are an asset.
  • Experience in the management of sensitive data and confidential information.

Terms of Employment:

Two part-time, fixed-term positions are available, working 30 hours per week. The nature of the work will require working some unsocial hours i.e. evenings and weekends. Access to own transport is essential. This post may be subject to Garda Vetting in line with Meath Partnerships policy.

Duration:

This is a fixed-term contract, concluding on the 31st December 2024. Any extension to the contract of employment will be subject to the availability of funding.

Salary:

The salary on offer is €32,000.00 per annum (pro-rata).

Leave:

The annual leave entitlement is twenty (20) days per annum, pro-rata for shorter periods. Entitlement to leave for Public Holidays is in accordance with the terms of the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997.  Meath Partnership closes for five (5) days at Christmas; this time is additional to the annual leave entitlement detailed above.
