Interim Discipline Manager, Occupational Therapy , Children's Disability Network Teams

Part-time 12 month Fixed Term Contract (wte 0.5)

The Children’s Disability Network Manager (CDNM) is the Operational Line Manager for the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT). The Interim Occupational Therapist Manager will work in collaboration with CDNMs in the Health Region and other Discipline Managers in CDNTS, Primary Care and CAMHS to ensure particular elements as set out in this Job Specification and that emerge as service priorities are progressed.

The Interim Occupational Therapist Manager (IOTM) is appointed to provide professional leadership, guidance, and support to Occupational Therapy staff within a multidisciplinary service model. Their service focuses on developing high-quality, integrated services for children with complex needs and their families, ensuring professional standards are maintained, and collaborating with other key services like Primary Care and CAMHS.

The IOTM will facilitate continuous quality improvement, manage clinical pathways, contribute to the development of policies and procedures, and provide support in managing issues such as referral intake, caseloads, and staff development.

The main focus of the role initially will be continuous improvement, clinical governance and service development and the role will report to the Kaizen Lead as part of the Kaizen Promotion Office. This is also an exciting opportunity for professional development with specific training provided to support you in this role in Lean methodology.

The successful candidate will have the following essential requirements:

  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU
  • Have 5 years full time (or an aggregate of 5 years full time) post qualification clinical experience
  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, management, leadership and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office
  • Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued

Candidates must also demonstrate:

  • Particular experience of working in children’s disability Services and have an understanding of the complexities of the needs of children accessing a CDNT Service.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of OTs working on CDNTs, a clear understanding of the model of service and of the policies underpinning delivery of CDNT services.
