The post holder will be required to:

Engage with all stakeholders to promote effective internal control, risk and governance arrangements.
Develop and secure agreement to an annual flexible Risk Based Internal Audit plan in line with audit guidance, quality, time and budget requirements.
Oversee the work of the Internal Audit team ensuring compliance with Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS), CIPFA’s UK Public Sector Application Note and the Council’s internal audit methodology including reporting requirements.
Provide opinions on the system of internal controls, leading continuous improvement activities to enhance Council practice, processes and customer service.
Present regular updates to the Corporate Management Team and Governance & Audit Committee, and provide an annual opinion on the governance, risk management and control operating within LCCC.
Provide ongoing training for Elected Members and staff on best practice, internal control, risk and governance arrangements.
