International Administrator
Overall role and context:

The main purpose of this post is to manage the administration function associated with the recruitment, admission, and progression of international learners, particularly non-EU learners, and to provide relevant guidance and advice on making the transition to living and studying in Ireland.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across SETU’s academic and professional services departments to ensure that the University meets its strategic targets in relation to Internationalisation and is in compliance with all relevant policies & procedures as well as pastoral care guidelines such as those stipulated under the Trust Ed Quality Mark.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
• To administer on a day to day basis the policies and procedures set down by the University relating to its dealings with International Students.
• To oversee the admissions processes for international applicants to completion including overseeing of offers and financial payments.
• To administer the payments made to international agents.
• To oversee the records management processes relating to academic, financial, applicant status and legal standing of the University’s international students.
• To provide any reports required by University management relating to the functions of the International Office.
• To support the University’s non-EU student population through assistance with making the transition to living and studying in Ireland to include such issues as accommodation, visa requirements, EFL support, academic liaison, health and other issues that arise from time to time.
• To supervise staff within the Global (International) Office at SETU.
• To assist University management in the achievement of the objectives of the University’s International Strategy.
• To undertake other duties as deemed appropriate by the International Affairs Manager or other authorized officer of the University.
The above provides a broad outline of the duties and responsibilities attached to the position as currently envisaged. These may change over time in the context of evolving University objectives and organisational restructuring.
Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
• Have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role.
• Be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard.
• Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent, or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher, or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise.
• Flexibility and a strong problem-solving approach to issues.
• Experience of delivering high quality customer services, with the demonstration of a strong understanding of how to respond to differing customer needs.
• Strong people and project management skills.
• The ability to operate effectively in a fast moving and complex environment.
Hours of Work:
The appointee will be required to work 35 hours per week together with such additional hours as may be required from time to time for the proper discharge of their duties.
Salary: Senior Staff Officer Salary Scale: €57,324 - €70,033
Annual Leave:
27 days. Annual Leave will be in accordance with arrangements authorised by the Minister for Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science from time to time.
