The role:
  • Assist with the day to day and strategic management of the IT Department 
  • Assist in managing and maintaining the organisation’s server and network infrastructure 
  • Assist with the design, implementation and continuous improvement of all IT hardware, software, networking and security systems 
  • Provide comprehensive IT support services across all departments, ensuring reliable and effective system operations
  • Support IT-driven initiatives aimed at cost reduction, operational efficiency, and increased productivity 
  • Lead or support departmental improvement projects by introducing new technologies and optimised practices 
  • Deliver operational IT support as required to meet business needs

Essential Criteria:
  • Over 5 years experience working in IT infrastructure in a production environment 
  • Experience working in a company with turnover in excess of £20m and with employees in excess of 200 
  • Managing helpdesk and incident resolution processes 
  • Supporting and maintaining Windows Server environments 
  • Firewall management (preferably Sophos XG or similar)
  • Infrastructure monitoring and performance analysis 
  • Network infrastructure support (Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols)
  • Virtual environments (e.g., Proxmox, VMware, Hyper-V) 
  • Backup, data protection strategies and developing disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to urgent IT needs
  • Monitor and troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues 
  • Work independently and as part of a team, sharing knowledge proactively 
  • Support end-users by providing clear technical guidance 
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of IT systems and processes
  • High attention to detail in documentation and system monitoring
  • Positive, proactive, and service-driven mindset
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Adaptable and flexible with changing priorities and business growth
  • Able to remain calm and solutions-focused under pressure
  • Demonstrates integrity, reliability, and accountability 
  • Professional, friendly, and approachable with a team-focused attitude 
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic 
  • Willing to learn and continuously improve technical knowledge
