Junior Health and Safety Officer

We have an immediate requirement for a Junior Health and Safety Officer working with our client on a solar farm project in the Carlow region.
This is a 4 month contract role with the potential for extension on the same or other projects. This role will require working Monday to Saturday ideally, although the client will consider candidates who are available to work every second Saturday.
The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director and Senior HSO.
Responsibilities:
- Assist regular site audits/inspections to ensure health and safety compliance to Company and Client procedures/rules.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.).
- Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
- Assist in the initiation and organization of health and safety training of employees and executives.
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment.
- Manage, develop and maintain incident reporting and near misses and follow up actions, identifying root causes and implementing changes to prevent reoccurrences.
- Reviewing SWP’s (Safe Work Plans) for tasks on site.
- Carrying out Inductions and Toolbox Talks as required.
Requirements:
- Recognised qualification in Health and Safety required.
- Work experience in an on-site Health and Safety position would be beneficial, but not required.
- First Aid Certification would be beneficial.
- Ability to work on own initiative and be innovative.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- You must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland
