Overview of Role

Responsibility for ensuring the overall working kitchen environment is kept clean, tidy, safe, and hygienic at all times. You will also be required to assist, under the direction of the chefs, with some food preparation.

You will also be required, under instruction, to set up crockery for events and manage the storage of such items to minimise breakages and ensure safe storage.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain clean work areas, including back of house, kitchen, and pot wash.

• Maintain clean work surfaces and ensure walls and floors are clean and sanitised.

• Ensure basic cleaning tasks are carried out as quickly as possible.

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including peeling and chopping.

• Ensure food preparation areas and equipment are always clean, including crockery and cutlery.

• Unload food and equipment deliveries when they arrive for the kitchen department.

• Ensure the storeroom is organised and tidy.

• Maintain crockery and glassware by ensuring clean items are always organised in the correct storage location.

• Remove waste from kitchens and maintain effective waste management using the correct bins and recycling processes.

• Report any broken equipment or items not considered safe to use to the senior chefs or operations management team in a timely manner.

• Attend any scheduled training to improve performance and maintain standards.

• Be aware of hazardous substances, ensure relevant protective clothing is worn, and follow instructions correctly.

• Undertake duties in a manner that enhances and protects the reputation and public profile of Titanic Belfast.

• Comply with Titanic Belfast Health & Safety and Food Safety Policies and Procedures.

• Take a proactive and positive approach to embracing the organisation's Health & Safety culture.

• Ensure adherence to and compliance with all GDPR/Data Protection-related policies and procedures.

• Undertake any other relevant duties as may, from time to time, be required.

Criteria

Essential Criteria

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.

• Good communication and listening skills.

• Displays a passion for working in the hospitality sector.

• Willingness to learn new skills.

• Enthusiastic attitude.

Desirable Criteria

• 1 year's previous experience in a similar role.

• Current First Aid Certificate.

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
