Laboratory Analyst – (Job Ref: 26N/RTLB)

Randox Testing Services are the market leader in the provision of drug and alcohol testing services, working to ensure safety and wellbeing in the workplace. Due to the increased recognition of the importance of drug and alcohol testing in the workplace and Randox Testing Services continued success, we are seeking to expand our toxicology laboratory team with the addition of highly motivated and ambitious individuals. Our staff are at the heart of everything we do and achieve. We have exciting new career opportunities for a Laboratory Analyst within our Testing Services team. 

Location: 34 Diamond Road, Crumlin, BT29 4QX.

Contract Offered: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours / Shifts: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08.40 to 17.20.

Right to Work Requirement

Please note that this role requires candidates to have the legal right to work in the UK for a minimum of 12 months from the application date. This is to ensure completion of our 9-month probationary period and for any potential sponsorship decisions to be considered. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship at the point of hire.

What does the Laboratory Analyst role involve?

This role is responsible for providing drug and alcohol testing services to safety critical business across the UK, Ireland, and overseas. This is an extremely varied role that will include the below duties: 

• The performance of various analytical procedures, including manual screening and automated methods covering a wide variety of clinical diagnostic and drugs of abuse tests.
• The receipt and registration of biological samples into the laboratory 
• The qualitative and quantitative analysis of biological specimens for drugs of abuse, using biochip array technology and liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry (LCMS) techniques. 
• The preparation and handling of samples and diagnostic reagents.
• The operating of various automated analytical systems.
• The accurate maintenance of analytical records and quality documentation.
• Strict adherence to chain of custody procedures throughout the analytical process.
• The routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation.
• The preparation of test records.
• The transfer of biological specimens from RTS, ensuring continuity and stability is safeguarded during shipment.
• Strict adherence to the company’s confidentiality policy within and outside the organisation. 

Who can apply?

Essential criteria:


• Qualified to at least degree level in a Life Science, Biochemistry or Chemistry 
• Enthusiasm to learn and follow instruction.
• Possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks to achieve maximum efficiency without sacrifice of quality.
• Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Competency with Microsoft Office packages.
• An eye for detail with the ability to work well under pressure without sacrificing quality or accuracy.

Desirable:
​​​​​​​
• Previous analytical experience in particular with immunoassay, HPLC or LCMS.
• Previous experience working within an ISO/IEC17025 regulated environment.
• Previous experience in a similar role. 
• Previous experience in a laboratory setting. 
• Working knowledge of laboratory Health & Safety including CoSHH.
