Job Overview

The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for the ongoing maintenance, calibration, qualification and administration of all equipment, instruments and systems used within the QC and Microbiology laboratories, with a particular focus on computerised systems.

Main Activities/Tasks
  • Responsible for ensuring all instruments and systems currently in use within the laboratories remain in compliance with all procedural and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Perform ongoing qualification, validation, backups, system administration tasks, system evaluations, periodic reviews, etc. within the required timeframes.
  • Assess existing instruments and systems for compliance / technical gaps and develop and execute remediation plans.
  • Manage external service providers, ensuring that a high level of service is provided.
  • Complete and retain all associated records in accordance with the relevant procedures.
  • Work as part of a team responsible for the introduction of new instruments and systems, ranging from like-for-like replacements to introduction of completely new technologies.
  • Work with stakeholders within the laboratories to identify departmental deeds, develop required project plans and assist in the management of these projects, ensuring that assigned milestones are achieved and the project is delivered on time.
  • Work with colleagues in QC and QA to assist in conducting investigations and developing/implementing CAPAs relating to laboratory systems and instrumentation.
  • Assist Management in collecting and reviewing trending data/KPIs and assist in developing and successfully delivering any required action plans.
  • Operate in full compliance with all health and safety, GMP and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in customer and regulatory audits/inspections as the subject matter expert for relevant aspects of laboratory instruments/systems.
  • Work with the Management and QA to ensure laboratory instruments/systems are commissioned, qualified, validated and put into use in a timely manner and in accordance with all GMP requirements.
  • Ensure that service providers are managed in accordance with the applicable SOPs.
  • Other duties as and when required.
Essential Criteria:
  • Third level qualification in a scientific or technical discipline
  • Minimum of two years chemistry/micro lab experience
  • Good communication, documentation and organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Practical experience of ongoing preventative maintenance, calibration etc of laboratory instruments/systems
Duration: Pernanent 

Location: Newry
