Laboratory Manager

Purpose of the Role:

The Laboratory Manager will provide managerial, strategic and professional leadership to the Laboratory Departments based in CHI at Crumlin, CHI at Temple Street and the POCT service in the UCC centers at Connolly and Tallaght, ensuring the provision of a quality assured, responsive and efficient service to all stakeholders.

The Laboratory Manager will also work closely with the Laboratory Program Director to ensure the safe transition of all Laboratory services to the New Hospital.

Essential Criteria:

(A) Hold the Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the Technological University of Dublin or Atlantic Technological University Galway or Munster Technological University Cork

or

(B) Possess the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the Technological University of Dublin or the Munster Technological University Cork awarded prior to 1994

or

·Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (A) or (B) above

and

·Possess a post graduate Master’s degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science

or

· Have attained the Fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Science

and

·Have seven years’ experience in a medical laboratory since qualifying as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, two of which were spent in a promotional post

and

·Be registered with CORU

and

·A post graduate qualification in a healthcare related or business-related field.

All candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
