Lairage Operative

Role Summary:

Dawn Meats is one of Europe's leading food companies; suppliers of choice to a range of leading local, national and international supermarket, foodservice and manufacturing businesses exporting to over 70 countries worldwide.

Dawn Meats have opportunities for a Lairage Assistant to join our team in Grannagh Co. Waterford. The lairage position will require you to be responsible for the receiving and storage of animals in accordance with animal welfare guidelines and legislation. The successful candidate will be part of the Lairage Team helping meet production targets whilst maintaining total traceability and legislative compliance.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be based at our Grannagh production plant and will be responsible for:

• Unloading livestock and counting deliveries to ensure they match the accompanying paperwork.
• Assessing stock deliveries to highlight any problem animals.
• Booking deliveries on to the computer and printing traceability information.
• Transferring animals to holding pens prior to slaughter.
• Maintaining a clean working environment within the Lairage daily.

The ideal Candidate will have or demonstrate

• The successful candidate will have experience of handling livestock.
• Possess good communication skills.
• Good level of numeracy skills.
• The ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team.
• Computer literate in the MS Office packages.
