Lead Horticulturist
City & Strabane District CouncilAcorn Farm, DerryScale S02, SCP 28-30 £37,938 - £39,513 per annum
The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of a diverse range of green infrastructure management and maintenance activities, including managing staff and resources as well as carrying out day-to-day horticultural operational duties across two sites, namely Brooke Park and Acorn Farm. These duties will be carried out in accordance with Health & Safety obligations and standard operating procedures.
The postholder will coordinate, promote and support a range of programmes within Acorn Farm to build a cohort of volunteers and facilitate behavioural change in relation to the food system.
The postholder will also play a vital role in engaging and educating the local community, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment, and contributing to the long-term success and impact of the project.
The post holder will support the GI Services team lead in securing and maintaining Green Flag Awards for key Council facilities within budget constraints, while actively creating and delivering a customer-focused service and culture.
As directed by the Line Manager, the post holder will develop and deliver volunteer partnership training and attend Green Infrastructure Management meetings as required.
