What is the Role:
The role presents an exciting and challenging opportunity to a Lead Platform Engineer to work in a dynamic workplace environment leading the reliability, scalability and performance of our critical customer systems.
This is a superb opportunity for someone who wants to develop and enhance their skillset. You will be working within a high performing technical team to automate infrastructure, design & implement observability and always ensure a high standard of reliability across our platform.
Key accountabilities;
- Lead cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain a DevOps framework that promotes continuous integration, delivery, and deployment.
- Lead the Design, build, and systems configuration management required for efficient software development and deployment, including servers, certificates, networks, and monitoring tools.
- Collaborate with multiple vendors to solve complex environment and application issues.
- Lead the development and management of Ansible playbooks and roles for automating and application deployment for various environments.
- Lead the governance and control of Production and staging environments.
- Create and maintain documentation, guidelines, and standard operating procedures to ensure proper knowledge transfer.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements, and implement tools and technologies to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and reduce manual efforts.
- Solid understanding of cloud-based architectures, services, and deployment models.
- Ideal candidate will have solid hands-on (coding) experience in modern, CI/CD practices/DevOps paradigms, Systems Engineering best practices and principles, administration of modern/distributed SCM systems.
What you Will Bring;
- Experience in leading the management of modern Site Reliability Engineering practise
- Knowledge & experience with Development Tools: GIT, Maven, Jenkins, SonarQube, Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc).
- Experience in Automated build and deployments using Jenkins, Ansible, Bitbucket, JIRA etc.
- Strong working experience automating with Python, PowerShell, Bash, YAML, JSON, Ansible, or industry equivalents.
- Knowledge & experience in Docker Containers, Docker Management platforms such as Kubernetes
- Leadership knowledge of networking and devices (Load Balancers, SSL/TLS, TCP/IP, VPNs, Firewalls, Proxies, DNS)
- Knowledge & experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Nagios, Grafana, etc
- Knowledge or experience with secret management technologies such as Venafi, Vault, CyberArk.
- Knowledge or experience working with general Linux administration.
