Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer (Below the Bar) in Journalism (Specific purpose, 0.5FTE) in the Discipline of Journalism and Communication at NUI Galway

The Discipline of Journalism and Communication offers internationally excellent programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the sector-leading BA Journalism and three MA programmes: the MA Journalism, MA Sports Journalism and Communication, and the newly established MA Global Media and Communication. The Discipline has ambitious growth plans and will offer the new BA Global Media from September 2021.

The Discipline is seeking to recruit a talented and committed practice-based Lecturer in Journalism on a specific purpose 0.5fte contract to support student learning and deliver teaching, primary in news, current affairs and investigative reporting.

The successful candidate will contribute to coordination, delivery of teaching, supervising projects and driving growth on our programmes. S/he will have specific experience in teaching a range of practice and academic modules in journalism and media studies in a higher education context at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Experience of academic programme management and student recruitment is advantageous, as is an active research track record.

Salary: €39,417 to €61,176 p.a (pro-rata), (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)

(This appointment will be made on the Lecturer Below the Bar scale in line with current Government pay policy)
