Leisure Attendant / Lifeguard

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary:
The post holder will provide customer service support to individual and group patrons of the Leisure Centre, to help ensure visitor comfort, safety and enjoyment. This includes, as required during shift, fitness instruction/fitness classes (where qualified), gym supervision, coaching and swimming instruction (where qualified), lifeguarding and cleaning and upkeep of facilities as required.
Duration of appointment:
Down Leisure Centre:
Posts 1- 5: Permanent
Post 6: *Temporary to cover secondment to 30 September 2023 (however this duration may vary if period of secondment concludes earlier or may be extended or be made permanent.
Newry Leisure Centre:
Posts 7 – 8: Permanent
Posts 9 – 10: *Temporary to cover secondments to 30 September 2023 (however these durations may vary if period of secondments concludes earlier or may be extended or be made permanent.
Casual:
Post 11 – Casual – see separate terms and conditions for Casual appointments
Salary:
Posts: 1- 10: If Stage 1 of the selection process is invoked, i.e. postholder has got all the essential quaifications. The postholder wil be paid Sacle 3 SCP 7-8, currently £22,369 - £22,777 per annum (pro rata to hours worked)based on a 37 hour week. It is Council policy to appoint at minimum salary scale point. For posts 1,2,4,7,8,9 and 10 the working pattern above currently attracts a 10% shift allowance.
For posts 3 and 5 enhancements are attracted for weekend and/or evening working.
Posts 1- 10: If Stage 2 of the selection process is invoked, i.e. the postholder has not obtained: o Current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, assessed at 2 metres (or more) and includes spinal or rescue board or PXB assessment or equivalent nationally recognised qualifications The postholder, will be paid Scale 2, SCP 5-6, currently £21,575 - £21,968 per annum based on a 37-hour week (pro rata to hours of work). It is Council policy to appoint at minimum salary scale point. The postholder will paid Scale 2 until receipt of this qualification (subject to terms noted in the Person Specification), on receipt of the qualification the postholder will be entitled to receive Scale 3 SCP 7-8, currently £22,369 - £22,777 per annum based on a 37 hour week.
