LRC Co-ordinator
Job Purpose
To be responsible for the development, promotion and delivery of Learning Resources which specifically address the needs of staff and students of the College. Coordination of all Learning Resource Centre activities.
Overview of RoleMain Duties and Responsibilities
To co-ordinate and plan work activities in conjunction with the Service Delivery Manager and other senior staff in the College by allocating tasks of work to staff.
To hold regular team/section meetings to ensure good communication and to liaise with other campuses/teams/sections in the College to ensure co-ordinated support service delivery.
To be involved in the implementation of all associated human resource practices in accordance with the terms and conditions of support staff in the College.
To liaise with external College contacts/stakeholders and internal staff, developing and maintaining relations as appropriate.
To prepare rotas and schedules to ensure cover in the Learning Resource Centre in accordance with the requirements of the College.
To lead and co-ordinate all activities in the Learning Resource Centre and any other access/user points.
To ensure the proper integration of the work of the Learning Resource Centre into the College’s Development Plan and the preparation of an operational plan for all aspects of development and delivery.
To work with the Service Delivery Manager to plan, develop, facilitate and manage delivery of a balanced programme of e-learning provision.
To work with appropriate senior staff to ensure the work of the centre is relevant, innovatory and meets current and future demands of students.
To create a welcoming and supportive environment responsive to meeting the needs of learners whilst ensuring a high quality learning experience.
To liaise with course team leaders and other academic staff at the College in order to identify and address open, flexible and resource-based learning requirements within the Learning Resource Centre as directed by Director of Curriculum and other senior staff.
To assist with induction of new staff and students, instruction and advice on study skills and the use of computers and software.
To assist with the development and implementation of programmes for learner support on a continuous improvement basis and quality.
To provide advice and information to learners that motivates, encourages and enthuses.
To attend internal and external meetings to promote learning resource development and delivery in the College.
To be responsible for the development of a flexible, innovative and responsive portfolio of programmes whilst ensuring ease of access and participation.
To ensure proper order and discipline is maintained by all users of the Learning Resource Centre.
To manage all administrative activities required and ensure that all funding activities are completed in a timely manner.
To plan and monitor the allocation of the budget for this section of the College.
To secure annual targets for income generation.
To ensure the Centre’s infrastructure is developed in line with the College’s Digital Strategy.
To ensure efficient, effective and safe use of all Centre physical resources to maintain a high standard of upkeep and maintenance of the Centre’s capital equipment, materials and consumables.
To secure a quality of service provision within the centre which will meet the external quality assurance standards (e.g. IQ:RS, Investors in People).
To collate qualitative and quantitative information for College Management and external agencies.
To attend internal and external meetings to promote College Learning Services.
Liaise with internal and external audit, meeting with auditors and providing information as required. Liaise with the Service Delivery Manager regarding outcomes and preparation of action plans. Review and monitor progress.
To implement quality systems, develop customer care processes and to deal effectively with complaints in the area, implementing the appropriate systems and other improvements to address issues arising.
To promote and raise the profile of the College and the services it provides to the local business and civic community.
To ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements and legislation in accordance with College policies and procedures.
To comply with and actively promote College policies and procedures on all aspects of equality.
To contribute to College quality assurance systems.
At all times to observe all internal College policies and procedures.
To act in standby support of general administration as required e.g. cover; evenings; registrations; receive callers.
To take responsibility for the receipt, safe handling and recording of monies as directed.
This job description is not prescriptive and the post holder may be expected to undertake other duties appropriate to the grade as may be assigned by the Principal & Chief Executive or her nominated officer(s).
A full qualification at UK Level 5 or above, such as a Higher National Diploma or Foundation Degree, or equivalent. AND A minimum of 3 years’ experience providing frontline support in an educational setting or customer-facing role. OR A full qualification at UK Level 4 or above, such as a Higher National Certificate. AND A minimum of 5 years’ experience providing frontline support in an educational setting or customer-facing role.
GCSE English and Maths (Grade A – C, or equivalent).
Demonstrate a high level of IT competence in each of the following: a. Library Management System or physical Resource Management System (e.g. Heritage); b. Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas); c. Digital learning resources.
A minimum of 1 year’s experience in the supervision of staff.
Good organisation skills with proven ability to prioritise and manage workloads to meet deadlines.
Ability to analyse data and produce relevant accurate reports.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
Terms and ConditionsSalary: Band 5 points 20-25 (£31,586 - £35,235 per annum pro-rata) / £16.80 - £18.77 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary until March 2026 with possible extension/permanency
Hours of Work: 6 hours per week
Location: The location of the post holder will be the Erne Campus.
Holiday Entitlement: 12 public holidays plus 24 days pro-rata rising to 31 days after 5 years’ continuous service
