The role:
Optimise machining processes to increase capacity and machine availability, improve OEE, and reduce cycle time and scrap rate
Create and maintain tool management system, ensuring tooling availability for manufacturing process; set and maintain tooling as required
Investigate problems relating to fixtures and tooling to optimise efficiency
Create and edit CNC programs; edit functions on machining centres
Perform minor maintenance on machining centres
Optimise and edit robot programs to ensure repeatability in process and reduce cycle times
Direct response efforts in accordance with production problems
Report to senior management weekly on current cell OEE and plans to improve
Develop machining cell layout for existing and new cell
Assist with the development and implementation of new products
Assist with the machine and process training of operators and supervisors as required
Visit customers and suppliers when required
Ensure compliance to Health and Safety Practice
Participate and lead information sharing, team working and Continuous Improvement Programmes.
Comply with the Company Environmental Policy and requirements of the Environmental Management System, both in normal and emergency situations.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Criteria:
Third level qualification in an engineering or technical discipline (degree, HND, HNC or equivalent)
Able to read and understand engineering drawings including hydraulic fixture drawings
Experience of fault finding
Previous experience within a manufacturing engineering environment
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Good communication skills, both oral and written
Good presentation and negotiation skills
Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy
Able to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
Able to see activities through to completion
Available to work shifts
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
