The Central Bank of Ireland serves the public interest by safeguarding monetary and financial stability and by working to ensure that the financial system operates in the best interests of consumers and the wider economy.We currently have a vacancy for a Maintenance Engineeron a contract of indefinite duration in the CMD Division.This role is aligned with the Bank Professional 3 grade and the BP3 salary scale, between €63,566 and €84,526 applies. Please click here for further information on our salary scales.The purpose of the role is to be responsible the installation, repair, maintenance, and optimisation of mechanical, electrical, or electronic equipment and systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation.Responsibilities:
  • Preventative Maintenance: Review standard of maintenance inspections and scheduled maintenance to prevent equipment failure and extend asset lifespan. Review vendor service engineer reports and implement corrective actions.
  • Fault Diagnosis, Repair and Optimisation: Point of escalation as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for issues identified by maintenance craft staff including equipment malfunctions and breakdowns, using technical knowledge and diagnostic tools. Monitor performance metrics and recommend and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime. Promote a culture of reliability centred maintenance.
  • Engineering Improvement Projects: Execute improvement projects relevant to Engineering while considering Safety, Quality, Reliability, Delivery and Cost factors. Lead continuous improvement projects such as, Facility enhancements, Equipment commissioning and decommissioning, Room/buildings/facilities repurposing, Adverse weather robustness programs, System ergonomic improvements. Develop and implement reactive business continuity response protocols ensuring engineering equipment readiness.
  • Technical Support and Training: Provide guidance to operational staff on equipment use and basic troubleshooting. Develop and deliver maintenance training programs to Maintenance craft team.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance work adheres to health and safety regulations and organisational procedures. Participate and lead preventive and corrective actions from Engineering safety audits, working closely with Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) function. Promote and improve Control of Hazardous Energy procedures and systems.
  • Documentation and Spare Parts Management: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, spare parts usage, and equipment performance. Manage the standard of maintenance documentation and embed a culture of improvement.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with operations, production, quality, risk and other engineering teams to minimise disruption and foster a collaborative culture.
Requirements:
  • Relevant maintenance engineering qualification (NFQ Level 7) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Understanding and experience of the DMAIC methodology.
  • Project Management and Continuous Improvement experience desirable.
  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering lead or reliability role in a regulated environment.
  • Familiar applying principles and concepts of lean six sigma and quality methodologies.
  • Competent in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and associated KPI’s.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, or electronic technical knowledge
  • Proficiency with diagnostic and testing equipment
  • Time management and prioritisation skills
  • Communication and teamwork capabilities
  • Health and safety awareness
  • Working knowledge of CMMS system
  • High level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a cross functional collaborative environment are required.
  • Ability and experience in using analytical thought to evaluate complex problems using multiple sources of information to ensure well informed, evaluative judgement calls are made on process engineering related issues based on the analysis of factual information.
  • Ability to manage a number of different activities and direct the work of project team members ensuring that each team member play their part in the achievement of the team’s goals.
  • Ability to mentor and share specialist knowledge with the other members of the division.
  • Ability to create and sustain key relationships with stakeholders.
  • A focus on achieving solutions to issues.
  • Good communication skills with the ability foster a collaborative culture, with a growth mindset.
