We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Maintenance Officer to join our Facilities and Transport department. The role involves ensuring the buildings, grounds, equipment and environments of the organisation are maintained to a high standard. The successful candidate will promote the safety, comfort and wellbeing of all service users, staff and visitors across Kare’s growing portfolio of currently 28 residential units, 13 local service centres, administrative office buildings and our equestrian centre across locations in Kildare, Wicklow and Offaly.

The successful candidate will report to the Facilities Officer and work alongside their colleagues in the Facilities and Transport team and other departments within the organisation. This role is ideal for a highly flexible candidate with a good all-round knowledge of Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical and preventative maintenance repairs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain buildings, grounds, equipment and furniture to a high standard.
  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance, repairs and servicing as scheduled.
  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry tasks within competence and report issues requiring specialist attention.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
  • Assist in ensuring all properties are clean, tidy and well presented.
  • Use the company van to assist in the collection/transportation/assembly/dismantling of goods, equipment and furniture.
  • Assist in maintenance of the grounds and gardening.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive maintenance records on the track plan system.
  • Report hazards, defects or ad-hoc repair needs promptly.
  • Follow all health & safety, fire safety and infection-control procedures.
  • Always maintain high professional standards and confidentiality.
  • Participate in staff training and development programmes as required.

The above is a general outline of the duties and responsibilities however the role is not limited to these. The successful candidate may be required to carry out additional duties / training as and when required by the organisation.

Essential Requirements

  • A trade background in carpentry, plumbing or electrical
  • Previous maintenance experience (healthcare or similar environment an advantage)
  • Fire safety awareness/experience
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Be eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship

· Have a full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
