Maintenance Operative

The Clear Group (including Clear Pharmacy, Clear Homes, Clear Dental and Clear Day Nurseries) is seeking to recruit a Full Time Maintenance Operative.

Job Purpose:
To ensure that the building(s), equipment, and grounds are well-maintained, safe, and functional. The Maintenance Operative will carry out routine inspections, repairs, and general maintenance tasks, supporting the smooth running of the businesses within the Clear Group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general building maintenance (e.g., painting, plastering, basic carpentry).
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify issues that require attention or repair.
  • Carry out minor plumbing and electrical repairs (e.g., fixing leaks, replacing bulbs/sockets).
  • Ensure communal areas are clean, safe, and presentable.
  • Respond promptly to reported faults and carry out repairs or escalate if necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, and ventilation systems.
  • Support external contractors on site and ensure work is completed to required standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.
  • Conduct health and safety checks, including fire alarm tests and emergency lighting.
  • Assist with setting up rooms or areas for meetings/events as required.
  • Possible work of replacing kitchens and bathrooms in residential properties.
Requirements:

Essential:
  • Proven experience in a maintenance or facilities role.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, and general repairs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling and working at heights.

Desirable:
  • Relevant trade qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in a relevant field).
  • Health and Safety training (e.g., COSHH, Manual Handling).
  • Experience working in residential and commercial properties.

Working Conditions:
  • May be required to be on-call for emergency repairs.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Use of hand and power tools, ladders, and safety equipment.
  • The role is full-time, working from 8am-5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)

Must hold a valid driver license.

Salary: Negotiable.
