Maintenance Shift Technician
Location: Arklow, Wicklow
Duration: Permanent
Work Schedule: Shift role, 2 shift
Mornings: Monday to Friday 06:00-14:00
Evenings: Monday to Thursday 14:00-22:30
Evening on Friday: 14:00-20:00
Overview of the Role:
The shift maintenance technician is responsible for the execution of the preventive and corrective maintenance program as per client requirements on a Pharmaceutical site. S/he will be required to work a shift rota as required.
Day to Day of the Role:
Maintenance and trouble-shooting of all client mechanical utilities systems
Assist Veolia Engineering team in the update of Utilities Standard Operating Procedures and ensure Training is carried out with Operations Teams.
Supervision of vendors and subcontractors on site
Ensure that all work permits are signed as area owner by the relevant shift members
Be fully aware of the terms of the site IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention Control) licence and ensure that all actions/operations on site are within the terms.
All work on site to be carried out in accordance with site EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) and Veolia QHSE rules and guidelines
Professional and courteous interaction with client
Completion of all related documentation in compliance with site and regulatory rules and guidelines
Delivery of delegated engineering tasks in compliance with good engineering practice and all regulatory, statutory and corporate requirements;
Keep training current in line with client’s requirements, i.e. SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), EWI’s (Engineering Work Instructions)
Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks; must be detail oriented and self-motivated.
Take system ownership for specified equipment
Actively participate in Continuous Improvement projects with the team
Support Energy Improvement projects across the Utilities plant
Ensures that all utilities equipment in his charge for the duration of shift is available at all times. Any equipment deviations are reported in the first instance as per the site escalation process.
Carryout Investigations on Utilities Equipment, identify problem areas and assist in improvement procedures
Must be able to work independently on own projects while working concurrently with all departments and levels of employees.
Ensure that the minimum shift numbers are maintained at all times.
Ensures all issues over shift are communicated to the next shift on shift change-over in a smooth and efficient manner
To Assist Maintenance Departments with Planned and unplanned Shutdowns.
Update stores spare lists as appropriate
Any other activities as directed by the Veolia Contract Manager
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to accurately document work performed.
Required Skills for the Role:
Electrical/Mechanical, 3 years minimum and good understanding of the basic fundamentals of the various utilities systems.
Pumps, HVAC Systems, Compressors, Boilers, steam systems and ancillary services, (DHW skids), Chillers, Cooling Towers, Clean steam Boilers, Purified Water Systems, CIP systems, Low /Medium voltage Electrical Systems, Conveyor systems
Building Management Systems (Scada)
Good understanding of Preventive Maintenance Systems.
PLC’s, VSD’s
Work within a Computerized Maintenance Management Work Order system environment knowledge in JD Edwards and SAP
Experience with Facility Start Up.
Work within a documented Permit to Work System
Computer literate
Ability to read and understand P&ID’s.
Understanding of SOP’s and GMP Engineering systems.
Understanding of Basic Instrumentation
Good Initiative and Pro-active attitude in approach to duties
Senior Trades, City & Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical engineering.
Must be able to demonstrate hands on experience with detailed knowledge/skill in the following area’s:
Troubleshooting / repair of Mechanical systems
Team Player.
Attention to detail
Methodical & Analytical approach to work.
Good problem solving and trouble shooting ability.
