Overview

We have an opportunity for an ambitious person to join our maintenance team to co-ordinate and schedule the management of all maintenance activities on-site. Liaise with external contractors for the maintenance and repair of same. As part of the Maintenance Technician Team, the successful applicant will be responsible for managing the maintenance teams and external contractors on a daily basis. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Health and Safety Rules and Regulations in the plant.
  • Report any current or potential hazards to your immediate manager immediately.
  • The correct Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) must be worn at all times. Consult the appropriate SOP where required.
  • He/she is responsible for consulting any SOP’s for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure they fully understand and adhere to the SOP.
  • The supervisor is the principal contact between maintenance and other departments within the plant.
  • The supervisor receives all work requests from requesting departments and screens each work request to ensure it is complete with all relevant information.
  • Reviews with engineering team the work order requests received
  • Liaise with production team to schedule downtime windows to schedule maintenance work
  • Schedule all preventative maintenance (PM) and demand maintenance (DM)work into production plan
  • Work closely with engineering team to schedule manpower and resources for safe and timely completion of the works.
  • Allocates and prioritises work orders to individual crafts
  • Scope the full extent of maintenance work needed to conduct the relevant repair / preventive / predictive / maintenance. Include any QA requirements on the work order
  • Complete field walk downs if necessary to identify any hazards that will be encountered during the task and identify any permits required to complete the works
  • Identify any specialised equipment or tools required to complete the works
  • Liaise with stores personnel to purchase / hire all necessary parts, equipment and services to perform the maintenance work
  • Control up-keep and accuracy of equipment maintenance history and job records.
  • Ensure that all new equipment is added to the Maintenance system and all relevant PMs .
  • Complete any change control requests to existing equipment changes.
  • Ensure key performance indicators are captured, reported and displayed for equipment reliability and maintenance department performance.
  • Continually improve the planning, scheduling, data management and job reporting systems to increase planning effectiveness and efficiency
  • Builds and provides maintenance reports to engineering teams on equipment performance over any defined period of time
  • Publish maintenance schedule of all works planned to various departments in a timely manner
  • Work closely with engineering manager, engineering team, finance and stores personnel to track and control engineering budget.
  • Participate in shutdown planning and preparation meetings. Ensures work orders for all works scheduled during this period are logged and tracked .
  • Coordinates contractor works with engineers and contractors responsible. Issues PMs and DMs to contractors for works completed on site
  • Reports to engineering team of area spend per month
  • Assist Engineering Manager with budget control and planning
  • Assist other engineers with project cost controls
  • This job function will change where update procedures to GMP, EHS, Technical/New Equipment, and Quality Procedures & SOPs are made.
  • This list of responsibilities may change depending on plant needs and employees are expected to be adaptable and flexible where this need arises. 

Knowledge:

  • Experience in plant maintenance systems.
  • Good overall knowledge of plant operations
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Good financial skills.
  • A demonstrated flexible and innovative approach to work.
  • Enthusiasm, energy and will be a self starter.
  • The ability to organize, motivate and understand people.
  • Good mental ability to logically follow a line of though for problem solving.
  • Good Computer Skills.
  • Perform additional duties at the request of the direct Manager.
