Job Purpose

Dawn Farms is currently seeking for a Maintenance Supervisor to join our MaintenanceDepartment to be based in our Head Offices in Naas, Co. Kildare. The Maintenance Supervisor is a key member of the Management Team responsible for the assignment, coordination and/or execution of activities within Maintenance ensuring a productive workforce which supports the Plant. It is important that a transparent system that records all works is implemented in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.

Role Responsibilities & Duties

The Maintenance Supervisor is required to achieve the best use of the technical staff and maintenance resources in their area of responsibility and to continually improve machine performance. In addition to regular maintenance technician duties, the Maintenance Supervisor shall have additional responsibilities as follow:

  • Day to day operations of the department.
  • Taking ownership of planning and coordination of resources and tasks.
  • Weekly budget control.
  • Lean projects and process improvements.
  • Weekly maintenance downtime reports providing commentary and improvement initiatives to improve same.
  • Cost savings within the maintenance department.
  • Identifying critical spares, workshop spares and consumable parts.
  • Being audit ready and complying with customer requirements.
  • Ensuring that 24/7 maintenance cover is maintained in the plant at all times.
  • Holiday planning of staff.
  • Attending key weekly meetings in the plant.
  • In the absence of the Maintenance Manager, communicating all issues to the Plant Manager.
  • Assistance in implementation of CMMS system.
  • Shift and working hours reviews.
  • Recruitment of new technicians.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Electrical or Mechanical trade / engineering qualified.
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification needed.
  • A sound, hands-on electrical and mechanical knowledge of equipment
  • Previous experience of supervising or managing teams.
  • Previous experience of using preventive maintenance systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in process manufacturing industry (food, beverage or similar environment).
  • Responsible and positive person who embraces change and takes ownership for the team and plant
  • Basic computer skills required (outlook, excel, word).

  • Strong leadership of technical Teams and managing people.
  • Application of knowledge of GMP regulations, EHS regulations and lean principles.
  • Application of knowledge of reliability process experience.
  • Team player and collaborator with the ability to influence and bring people along.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal at operator and management level.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and meet deadlines.
