Maintenance Supervisor
Job Overview
You will supervise and coordinate a team of fitters, electricians and electronics technicians, ensuring preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for maintaining facility, utility and production equipment reliability to minimise downtime and maximise operational performance. This requires strong technical expertise, effective cross-functional engagement and robust oversight of documentation and compliance standards. This role can either be continental shifts, including days, nights and weekends OR permanent night shift.

Job Overview
You will supervise and coordinate a team of fitters, electricians and electronics technicians, ensuring preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for maintaining facility, utility and production equipment reliability to minimise downtime and maximise operational performance. This requires strong technical expertise, effective cross-functional engagement and robust oversight of documentation and compliance standards. This role can either be continental shifts, including days, nights and weekends OR permanent night shift.
Main Activities/Tasks
- Prioritise and provide clear direction to fitters, electricians and electronics technicians regarding maintenance activities.
- Ensure facilities, utilities and production equipment are maintained to pharmaceutical GMP standards, minimising production downtime and maximising plant reliability.
- Ensure standards are consistently achieved and aligned with regulatory expectations.
- Supervise and monitor team performance, driving continuous improvement and accountability.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are executed as planned and completed within agreed timeframes.
- Review and approve maintenance work orders to ensure tasks are completed to required technical standard and documentation is accurate, complete and audit-ready.
- Ensure all activities are fully documented within the CMMS system and meet data integrity requirements.
- Liaise with Production and Area Managers to schedule planned maintenance downtime at appropriate times to minimise operational impact.
- Ensure full compliance with GMP, Health & Safety and Environmental regulations and company policies pertaining to the maintenance function.
- Ensure that appropriate permits (e.g. hot work, confined space, electrical isolation) are issued, controlled and strictly adhered to during maintenance activities.
- Ensure all regulatory and audit requirements associated with the maintenance department are met and support internal and external audits as required.
- Implement and uphold all company HR policies and procedures within the team.
- Manage direct reports’ timekeeping, absences, holidays and performance management processes.
- Agree performance metrics with management and track team KPIs including downtime, PM compliance and response times.
- Manage third-party contractors ensuring risk assessments, method statements and all required documentation are reviewed and approved prior to commencement of work.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified in an electrical, electronic or mechanical or relevant discipline (City & Guilds, BTEC or Degree)
- Minimum of 5+ years post apprenticeship experience or 2 years post graduate experience
- Demonstrate experience leading teams, coordination and planning and execution of work
- Continuous improvement mindset, embraces change and creates a sense of urgency to deliver change
- Strong computer skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with the ability to generate reports
Desirable Criteria:
- 3rd level qualification in related technical discipline
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualified or working towards
- 5 + years supervisory or technical leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
