Maintenance Technician

With over 25 years of experience in childcare, Kids Inc. is one of Ireland's leading providers of Early Years and Afterschool Care. We operate over 70 onsite Breakfast and Afterschool programmes nationwide, alongside our Creche and Preschool services.

We are currently recruiting a Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team, supporting our services across the Dublin area. This is a full-time fixed-term contract with strong potential to become a permanent position.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring our childcare services remain safe, functional, and well maintained. Working across multiple locations, you will carry out a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks while responding efficiently to day-to-day maintenance requests.

You will work independently, managing your daily schedule and travelling between services to complete planned and reactive maintenance work.

What You'll Do

• Carry out day-to-day maintenance and repair work across Kids Inc. services.
• Complete basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting, mechanical, and general maintenance tasks.
• Carry out handyman repairs and general facilities upkeep.
• Move, assemble, and maintain furniture and equipment as required.
• Safely operate hand and power tools.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety requirements.
• Maintain safe environments for children, staff, and visitors.
• Drive between service locations throughout Dublin.
• Prioritise maintenance requests and adapt to changing workloads.
• Complete maintenance reports and communicate updates via email.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in general building maintenance, facilities, or a similar role.
• Skilled in basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting, and general repairs.
• Able to work independently and manage their own workload.
• Organised, reliable, and solution-focused.
• Professional, approachable, and comfortable working in childcare environments.
• Confident using email and completing maintenance reports.
• A strong communicator with excellent time management skills.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a construction, facilities, or maintenance environment.
• Must have own transport
• Full, clean Category B driving licence.
• Ability to travel between Kids Inc. locations throughout Dublin.
• Fluent English.
• A Category D/D1 driving licence is desirable but not essential.
