The position of Secretary to the Head of Corporate Services requires the role holder to be able to

work independently, to prioritise their work and meet deadlines. Given the nature of the role, and

the support it provides across the College, the role holder will be required to exercise good

judgement, discretion and maintain confidentiality. Experience of working in the public service or the

education sector would be beneficial.

Salary: Grade VI Salary Scale €53,346 - €65,174 pro-rata, i.e. €€26,673 - €32,587 per annum*

*Candidates should note that as per Department of Finance guidelines, entry will be at the minimum

point of the scale and the rate of remuneration will not be subject to negotiation and may be adjusted

from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Different terms and conditions may apply if you

are a currently serving civil or public servant.

Annual Leave: Annual Leave will be 27 working days per year pro-rata, i.e. 13.5 days per annum. This

leave is exclusive of public holidays.

Hours of Attendance: Working hours will be 17.5 hours per week (net of rest breaks).

Location: This position is based at NCAD, 100 Thomas Street, Dublin 8.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts at departmental, and institution level.
  • In conjunction with Head of Corporate Services/Finance Officer develop resource model for the college.
  • Development of programme level budgets in conjunction with school heads and project accountant.
  • Development of streamlined reporting pack at all levels within the institution.
  • Preparation of monthly variance reports, key cost controls, financial data to required
  • Assist in preparation monthly management accounts and monthly consolidated reports, detailed variance analysis and commentary on actual vs budget
  • Suggest and implement process improvements and efficiencies; develop analytic tools and techniques to control costs and improve financial reporting; analysing trends
  • Reviewing costings and analyse various cost centres across the business to ensure the most
  • cost-effective processes are in place
  • Providing planning and cost controlling support
  • Development of programme level budgets in conjunction with school heads and project accountant.
  • Review and analysis of overhead spend and forecasting future expenditure
  • Develop and build management dashboards and KPI reports
  • Assist with process improvement projects across Corporate Service function.

Selection Criteria

Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful

candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post.

Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria.
