What is the Role?

Reporting to the Credit Model Validation management team in the Second Line Assurance function, the role holder will be responsible for providing independent and robust challenge of the modelling teams and business areas in the bank to assure and improve the Bank’s models. The risk models in scope are both Pillar 1 and Pillar 2, IFRS9 ECL models, and Economic capital and stress test methodologies in AIB Group to meet internal and external (generally regulatory) criteria.

You will lead projects within the Model Validation function and work with and coach junior team members to deliver quality projects in a timely manner;

You will be involved in the overall planning of the team’s work for the year, presenting results of validations at senior management committees and discussing validation topics with our regulators and auditors.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead and deliver assigned validation activities, per methodology and standards, while also being accountable for the work of analysts of varying levels of experience assigned to your management.
  • You will be accountable for providing robust challenge to the modelling teams and business areas in the bank to assure and improve the bank’s models.
  • Have a deep understanding of modelling methodologies and the regulatory framework relating to the management of Credit Risk in a bank.
  • Represent the team when engaging with internal & external parties, principally Business Areas, Model Development, Group Internal Audit (GIA) and the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) and Joint Supervisory Team (JST).
  • Seeks to improve established processes in order to eliminate complexity or increase the added value of the validation team’s analysis;
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt in a changing environment

What you Will Bring;

  • A strong quantitative background (masters/doctorate in maths/ stats/ economics or other numerate discipline) with proven experience of applying this in a risk and modelling environment.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a quantitative analytics role (credit risk analytics experience is preferred.
  • Experience in capital measurement and a thorough understanding of the legislation surrounding the calculation of capital requirements (CRD/CRR, Basel III/IV etc.)
  • Must be a clear role model, with demonstrated capability of developing and coaching people, empowering, and trusting in people.
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively to deliver requirements.
