Marketing and Communications Manager
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Group Head of Marketing, the Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining communications processes and platforms to support the CEO and wider organisation to ensure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. The role holder is responsible for supporting the Executive team in communicating the strategy and operational plan to foster ongoing colleague and stakeholder engagement.
The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for measuring, reacting and building the Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic, brand recognition and market penetration, developing leads and opportunities, which will increase the clinical and commercial success of the Hospital. Another key focus for the role holder is to build relationships with Consultants, Clinicians, GPs, Community, the Media, and key internal stakeholders to enhance the Hermitage Clinic’s brand.

Blackrock Health, comprising Hermitage Clinic, Galway Clinic, Limerick Clinic and Blackrock Clinic.
Blackrock Health Hermitage Clinic is a private hospital providing a full range of medical and surgical care across a broad spectrum of specialities. This is a key role in the marketing team, which also supports the Executive team, drives brand recognition and enhances communications with stakeholders and employees.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing
- Develop and lead out on an annual multi-year targeted marketing and communication strategy that supports the Hospital’s business strategy
- Measure brand penetration, impact and awareness. Report on impact of all marketing strategies on a quarterly basis to Executive team (digital platforms /events/campaign engagement /GP’s engagement)
- Liaise with and manage external agencies from campaign briefing through to implementation and ROI analysis
- Manage content and grow traffic on all of the Hospital’s digital platforms to maximise market awareness and reach
- Develop and maintain and active directory of contacts, signage and brand across the organisation and maintain all signage and brand in good condition and up to date
- Champion and monitor adherence to our corporate branding guidelines for all internal and external communication
Communications
- Lead the development of content for internal and external stakeholder audiences including design requirements and delivery across print, voice media and digital platforms
- In conjunction with the Executive team- plan, develop and execute internal and external communication actions to promote business units in alignment with overall operational plan and strategy
- Act as first point of contact for enquiries from media and PR agencies. Play key communications role with medical meetings content, publications, events and activities specific to the Hermitage Clinic brand and services
- Create messaging and content that proactively supports internal communications as directed by CEO and Executive Management Team. Engage regularly with department managers, clinical leads and executive management team to support them in their communication needs
- Liaise with the Hospital’s PR agency to review and report on all social media outlets referencing our brand
Event Management
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to identify event opportunities to promote their services / initiatives to external stakeholders. Maximise event awareness and communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote these events.
- Maintain an active directory of key contacts within defined communities e.g. General Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Consultants both internal and external
- Work with I.T. team to analyse and report on GP and other referral patterns. Develop targeted communications plans based on these insights to improve GP engagement and loyalty
- Act as a brand ambassador for Hermitage Clinic and Blackrock Health. Attend events as required to represent Hermitage Clinic in a promotional capacity
Learning and Education
Take personal responsibility for own professional development and keep up to date with evidence based practice and research
Essential Skills and Experience
- Relevant 3rd level qualification preferably in Marketing, Communications or related field
- 4+ years of relevant work experience with strong digital experience
- Experience collaborating and working cross functionally with other teams and stakeholders. Experience working in a matrix environment is desirable
- Previous experience in relationship management of agencies /external partners
- Self-starter who can think creatively and with an ability to use own initiative
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with proven ability to influence stakeholders
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time so as to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Excellent attention to detail
- Previous Event Management experience is desirable
