Full-time position (37 hours per week) or, alternatively, may be offered as two part-time posts, with one located at each venue. The role may occasionally require evening and/or weekend work, for which an additional salary increment may apply.
SalaryScale 4; SCP 9–14; £26,409–£28,624 per annum
Main Purpose of JobThe postholder will lead and deliver effective marketing, communications, and audience development for Strule Arts Centre and The Ardhowen, enhancing visibility, engagement, repeat attendance, and income generation across both venues.
They will develop and implement targeted, creative marketing strategies across digital, print, and broadcast platforms to promote events and activities to both B2C and B2B audiences. Additionally, the postholder will support programme development, engage key stakeholders, contribute to venue operations, and assist in promoting wider Fermanagh and Omagh District Council events and the broader arts and cultural offer across the district.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement targeted marketing strategies across digital, print, and broadcast media.
Manage all social media platforms, including promoted content and paid campaigns.
Increase reach and engagement across digital channels and improve visibility in print and broadcast media.
Produce and distribute press releases and advertising for local and regional press.
Ensure visibility and promotion of seasonal theatre programmes.
Lead on the design, production, and distribution of digital and printed programme materials.
Liaise with agencies, promoters, and partners to ensure quality content and timely, accurate information.
Champion the arts and promote the Council’s cultural offer to diverse audiences.
Promote the hire of spaces and support increased daytime venue usage.
Ensure the venues remain accessible and welcoming for a wide range of community uses.
Support and promote the development of a strong daytime offer, including workshops, events, and conferences (MICE market), highlighting previous successes in event delivery where relevant.
Work with café/bar providers to create synergies between events and hospitality.
Develop partnerships with local accommodation and experience providers.
Work collaboratively with Council events teams and internal departments to support cross-cutting initiatives.
Support income generation and venue targets through effective promotional activity.
Contribute to wider programming development and service innovation.
Enhance the customer experience and encourage repeat attendance.
Build relationships with stakeholders, media, and tourism bodies.
Use audience data, profiling, box office data, and facility booking systems to inform marketing, programming, customer engagement, and service development.
Undertake annual competitive analysis to benchmark performance and identify growth opportunities.
Use market research and customer insights to shape and refine campaign delivery.
Ensure the visibility and contribution of the venues to the early evening and night-time economy of their respective locations.
Align all marketing activity with Council branding, accessibility, and communications strategies.
Support the promotion of Council-led events, festivals, and initiatives across the district.
Collaborate closely with the Council’s Communications Team and other service areas.
Contribute to corporate, service, and venue forums and meetings as required.
Develop and share positive, people-centred content that reflects the values and impact of the venues and their programmes.
Contribute to organisational priorities and continuous improvement.
Support the wider Arts and Heritage team and the Community and Wellbeing Directorate.
The postholder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs and requirements of the Council and the venues. This list of duties is not exhaustive and the postholder may be required to undertake other related duties as directed by management.
GeneralEnsure full compliance with all Health and Safety at Work legislation in accordance with the Council’s Health and Safety at Work policy and associated procedures.

A relevant qualification (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Business Studies) and 1 year’s relevant experienceOR In the absence of a relevant qualification, a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a public relations, communications, or marketing role.
Experience must include:a) Developing and implementing marketing strategies and campaigns b) Creating and managing high-quality content across digital and traditional marketing channels, including websites, social media, print, and broadcast media c) Using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and marketing software (e.g., CRM, email marketing platforms) d) Producing marketing reports and evaluating campaign success
General Conditions of AppointmentThe appointment will be subject to: a) Satisfactory references from two referees (one should be from the present or previous employer) b) A satisfactory standard of attendance, conduct, and performance in the post c) Satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period, with an interim three-month review d) Terms of the Northern Ireland Local Government Pension Scheme e) A satisfactory medical report confirming fitness for employment f) Satisfactory receipt of a Basic Access NI Check g) Production of evidence of educational and/or professional qualifications as listed on the application form
