PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF THE POSTWorking alongside the Communications and Marketing Service and Marketing Officer (Leisure), the Marketing Assistant will assist in the delivery of innovative and effective marketing campaigns (traditional and digital) that support Leisure outcomes and are linked directly to the Council’s vision, values and strategic direction.This post will take a lead role in the delivery of traditional and digital marketing for Leisure. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. To assist the Marketing Officer with the day-to-day delivery of Leisure’s digital marketing function and deputise as required for the Marketing Officer (Leisure).2. To help manage a range of marketing and engagement channels (including digital platforms) that will position Leisure, its services and facilities positively. 3. To manage the Leisure website and social media presence under the direction of the Marketing Officer (Leisure) and in partnership with Communications and Marketing. This will include writing, editing and repurposing content; ensuring the site complies with copyright, accessibility and brand guidelines; and increasing the number of citizens undertaking transactions online. 4. In collaboration with Communications and Marketing, the Marketing Assistant will contribute to the delivery of an innovative social media strategy for Leisure that uses the most appropriate channels/channel mixes to position the Council’s Leisure services and facilities positively.5. To assist with the management of a range of marketing tools, produce high quality promotional and advertising material both online and offline in support of the sales of memberships and promoting facility usage generally and evaluation to measure the effectiveness of sales tools and report against service targets.6. To assist the Marketing Officer (Leisure) with the preparation, control and monitoring of marketing budgets and to utilise resources effectively and in compliance with Council financial standing orders and standard operating procedures.7. To liaise with Communications and Marketing to develop the content of design and marketing contracts, and to assist with the management of these contracts directly where appropriate, in line with the Council’s procurement policy. 8. To support the delivery of various marketing campaigns via online and digital technologies and on occasion provide support at Council events. 9. To undertake general administrative duties and related office duties, daily and as required by the Marketing Officer (Leisure).10. To comply with and promote equality, health and safety in accordance with Council policies and legal requirements.11. To undertake any other appropriate duties as may be allocated from time to time in accordance with the general nature of the post. QUALIFICATIONS Must hold a HND / Foundation Degree or equivalent (Level 5 qualification), in a relevant subject area.OR2 years’ relevant experience in a communications/marketing role to include experience in each of the following areas detailed below.EXPERIENCE At least 1 year’s experience in a communications/marketing role to include experience in each of the following:• Writing for and content management of a website• Managing at least one other digital/social media platform • Developing, delivering and evaluating effective online marketing campaigns • Assisting with budget preparation, monitoring and reviewKEY SKILLS & ABILITIES • IT Literate • Ability to work to tight deadlines• Excellent communication skills of all types and at all levels• Strong attention to detail• Ability to use own initiative as well as working as part of a team • Enthusiastic and flexibleFollow us on Facebook and stay up to date with the latest jobs in Down!
