Marketing Manager (Maternity Cover)
Role Introduction:
Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €3BN in annual revenue, operating 600 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 17,000 people.
Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for delivering impactful marketing campaigns? Applegreen is seeking a Marketing Manager for a 9-month fixed-term maternity cover to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our marketing strategy. This is a high-impact role where you’ll work closely with senior leadership, manage cross-functional relationships, and drive campaigns that deliver real commercial value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies aligned with business goals.
- Own stakeholder relationships and lead communications with the Senior Leadership Team.
- Deliver a calendar of marketing campaigns in collaboration with the Brand Manager.
- Ensure campaign messaging is consistent, timely, and aligned with strategic objectives.
- Manage campaign budgets and ensure delivery within financial targets.
- Lead research initiatives, including annual brand tracking and customer segmentation.
- Support the Head of Marketing with budget oversight and team leadership.
- Manage and mentor marketing team members, including hiring support and performance development.
- Support with the relationship management of Applegreen’s Brand Partners.
- Represent the marketing team in cross-functional groups (HR, Ops, Trading, Food).
- Lead on organisation of company-wide events such as the conferences, awards nights and our Christmas Party.
The Candidate should have the following:
Qualifications, experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Marketing management or marketing, preferably in the retail or FMCG sector.
- Strong understanding of marketing strategy and marketing principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in marketing software and tools.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in marketing strategy and campaign management.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Budget management experience and a commercial mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Full Irish Driving Licence

- Proven track record of delivering to tight deadlines.
- A highly organised individual with ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively for maximum impact and adapt around changing priorities as required.

- Ability to execute directly at high quality and pace.
- Excellent drive, enthusiasm and commitment and a keen interest in developing a career in Applegreen.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, and ability to engage and develop relationships with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
- Experience building positive relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- A positive attitude with a solution focused approach to challenges that arise.
- Is resilient and calm under pressure.
- Willing to travel ad hoc if required.
- Work with the Marketing team to help plan and execute any company events throughout the year.
